Plans to build and toll a new Interstate 5 bridge spanning the Columbia River between Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash., are moving forward, but there's still time to for highway users to comment. According to a bistate panel in a 2010 report, many commuters and truckers disapprove of tolling as a funding source for the bridge, but officials continue to push the plan. Recently, in the first of two meetings, members of the public had their first glimpses at proposals for a new court facility in downtown Fredericksburg, Texas. In all, three of the five design-build teams presented during a marathon three hour series of presentations before City Council. The four concepts presented by the three teams last night saw new court facilities proposed for three different locations, Executive Plaza, Fredericksburg Fire Station 1 and the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. The Beatrice Public Schools Board of Education In Nebraska discussed engaging in a design-build process of the proposed "multipurpose outdoor facility" at Beatrice High School during its Committee of the Whole meeting March 3. Superintendent Dr. Jon Lopez said the design-build process is a different process than the design-bid-build process used in other construction projects, requiring different steps and procedures by the district.
