Northwest Housing VIIIA, a student residence hall built by Balfour Beatty Construction and designed by Gensler for George Mason University, has recently earned a top award from the National Design Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Tunneling begins on HNTB-designed SR 99 tunnel with launch of world's largest tunnel boring machine in Seattle
Tunneling recently began on the SR 99 Tunnel, which at 57.5 feet excavated diameter, will be the world's largest TBM-bored tunnel. HNTB Corporation is lead designer for the Washington State Department of Transportation project as part of Seattle Tunnel Partners, a joint venture of Dragados USA and Tutor Perini Corporation.
San Diego's 'The Green Build' utilizes leading-edge BIM technology

"The Green Build," the largest construction project in the San Diego International Airport's history, is nearly complete. Celebrating its grand opening Aug. 8, The Green Build includes a three-story, 460,000-square-foot expansion of Terminal 2. The project began construction in 2009, and will be completed on time and under budget.
Opus Group to build student housing development at UW-Madison
The Milwaukee office of The Opus Group announced that it is part of a collaboration with Harrison Street Real Estate Capital LLC, a Chicago-based real estate investment management firm, to develop and construct Varsity Quarters, a new student housing development adjacent to the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. The project is a joint-venture partnership.

Development of the $975 million new home for the Minnesota Vikings moved ever so slightly closer to reality recently when the Minneapolis Planning Commission signed off on the stadium's bold and glassy design.
SOM breaks ground on Los Angeles' courthouse
Just eight months after being awarded the design-build contract with Clark Construction Group, Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill has broke ground on the new, $318 million United States Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. This is a long-awaited achievement for the city of Los Angeles, as attempts have been made to construct a new courthouse since 2007. However, despite having to abandoned a $1.1 billion Perkins + Will proposal years ago, many believe this sustainable and more cost-effective design by SOM was worth the wait.

$1 billion DFW Connector project in Grapevine, Texas, almost finished

For nearly four years, Grapevine, Texas, resident Angela Gair has felt like a prisoner in her own neighborhood. Since late 2009 and early 2010, residents such as Gair have been boxed in by the DFW Connector, a $1 billion makeover of the 8-mile stretch of Texas 114/121 that forms the main path into and out of the city. Because of the work, motorists encountered confusing detours, and traffic often stacked up for miles.
