Obama administration and FERC not happy with House energy bill
    Utility Dive
A proposal included in broad energy legislation currently being drafted in the House would undermine the president's ability to execute efficiency and carbon plans, according to an official from the Department of Energy. FERC officials have also expressed displeasure with the bill, parts of which they say duplicate already-existing efforts to ensure transparent and competitive markets.

DC Circuit throws out Murray Energy challenge to the Clean Power Plan
    Utility Dive
Legal challenges to the Obama administration's Clean Power Plan are premature and must wait for final regulations to be issued this summer, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled recently. The federal government is expected to issue the final version of the EPA's Clean Power Plan, which aims to cut carbon emissions from the power sector 30 percent by 2030, in August. The D.C. Circuit said in its ruling that fossil fuel companies and states resistant to the rule will have to wait until then to make their challenges.

OPEC move could put pressure on US market
    Tyler Morning Telegraph
The member countries of OPEC decided on June 5 to continue their current oil production rate, and see what happens to oil prices. It is a strategy that many analysts believe will put more downward pressure on crude oil prices, which will create more pain for U.S. oil producers, and result in an increase in market share for OPEC. Already the average price of West Texas crude oil has declined from $97.46 during the month of September 2014 to a low of $45.90 for the month of February, following OPEC’s first announcement in November that it would continue its production target of 30 million barrels per day.

PJM proposed new performance standards following poor generator performance during the polar vortex of the 2013-2014 winter, where at one point more than 20 percent of generation was unavailable.
