    Recommendations for the State Regulatory Practitioner Award
    EBA
    The EBA State Commission Practice Committee is currently seeking recommendations for the State Regulatory Practitioner Award. This prestigious award recognizes innovation and superior advocacy by members of the state utility regulatory bar. The award is consistent with the committee’s goal to be a resource to lawyers who focus their practice on state energy regulatory matters. The award will be presented at EBA’s Mid-Year Meeting & Conference on November 18-19 in Washington, DC. Prior recipients of the award include Ben Stone, James Van Nostrand, Sonny Popowsky, and Jeff Genzer. The most recent recipient of the award is Charles Gray, the Executive Director of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.

    Free Program on Oct. 22 – FERC Oil/Liquids Pipeline Policy Developments

    Please join EBA for this free program at the FERC in Washington, DC on October 22nd from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The topics addressed at this workshop will include gathering systems and oil/liquids pipeline regulation, plant facility waivers, and recent developments related to temporary waivers of the tariff and filing requirements under the ICA.     The EBA is pleased to bring you this two-day educational program designed to teach energy lawyers the fundamentals of energy trading and market demand in the natural gas, oil, and electricity sectors. Join the EBA Houston Chapter on December 7 - 8, at the Law Offices of Bracewell & Giuliani, 711 Louisiana St, #2300, Houston, TX 77002. A Networking Reception will be held on Monday, December 7, immediately following the first day of programming and all are welcome to attend. Presenters will introduce participants to the purposes and benefits of trading, basic concepts in trading, the energy products that are commonly traded, and the markets in which they are traded. A discussion of how trades are documented, who the major trading platforms are, and how they operate will follow.

    Oct. 16 – Scaling Renewable Energy: A Perspective from Google
    San Francisco, CA

    Join us Friday, October 16 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for this program with speaker Sam Arons of Global Infrastructure at Google, Inc. For the past eight years, Sam has held a variety of roles at Google focused on sustainability and renewable energy. He has led a number of initiatives on the sustainability front, including calculating Google's global carbon footprint and designing a tool used to measure and analyze building energy consumption across Google's corporate real estate fleet. In addition, he has worked with various Google products, including implementing a feature in the Google Finance product to show companies' carbon scores. Teleconference is available.

    Oct. 20 – Locational Marginal Prices – Foundations and Frontiers
