Field announced for 2012 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship at The Concession Golf Club GCAA Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
The field for the 2012 Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship has been announced by the GCAA. The event will be held March 18-20 at The Concession Golf Club in Sarasota, Fla. South Florida will serve as host school for the event and will be joined by defending champion Duke, Arizona State, Arkansas, California,
Chattanooga, Colorado State, East Carolina, Indiana, Iowa, Kennesaw State, Liberty, UNC-Wilmington, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Washington State.

Great Britain and Ireland team announced for Walker Cup The R&A Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
The R&A has announced the Great Britain and Ireland team for the Walker Cup, being played at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, Scotland. The GB&I team will face the United States of America on Sept. 10-11. Nigel Edwards, Captain of the GB&I team said, "I'm very pleased with the team that has been selected and I'm sure a number of players will be disappointed to miss out." Loftsson lands in Wyndham Championship The Southern Pines Pilot Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
Olafur Loftsson of Iceland won a place in the Wyndham by winning the Cardinal amateur tournament at Greensboro's Cardinal Country Club. He is making history. He is the first golfer from Iceland ever to play in a PGA Tour event. Lotsson said he has never even attended a tour tournament as a spectator. There he was Tuesday playing a practice round with former British Open champion David Duval. More

It seemed like a game of miniature golf gone terribly awry. For the life of him, David Schroeder couldn't keep his ball from rolling back down the formidable ridge on the 15th green at CommonGround Golf Course in Colorado. Four times, Schroeder agonized as his ball refused to stay on the upper tier of the two-tier green — where he wanted it. The result was a snowman — a quadruple-bogey 8 — that melted away the Broadmoor golfer's chances of winning the 75th CGA Stroke Play Championship. For the second time in five years, Mike Small of Champaign, Ill., rose to the top among his peers to stand on the 18th green for a crystal bowl tribute in a PGA Championship. The men's head coach at the University of Illinois, who has built the cold-weather school into a top-10 collegiate golf powerhouse, turned in an 8-over-par 78
at Atlanta Athletic Club's Highlands Course. Though not the 18-hole finale he had wanted, Small's 72-hole total of 12-over-par 292 represented the top effort among 20 PGA Club Professionals in the Season's Final Major.

Scoggin takes over for Tim Mickelson who took a similar position with Arizona State University. Christopher Chu of Fullerton, Calif., and Tailin Song of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., both claimed medalist
honors in the AJGA National Qualifier — Santa Clarita after shooting 5-under-par 67. The AJGA National Qualifier — Santa Clarita was a 18-hole stroke play event conducted by the American Junior Golf Association at Robinson Ranch Golf Club — Valley Course in Santa Clarita, Calif. The tournament field featured 68 boys and 32 girls from eight states and four countries. The Boys Division played the par-72 course at 6,594 yards and the Girls Division played at 5,704 yards.

The TJGT TPC San Antonio Major Championship was played Aug. 15-17, at the JW Marriot/TPC San Antonio Resort, home of the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open. Players played both the Canyons and Oaks courses with all boys playing 6,622 yards on the Canyons and 6,624 yards on the Oaks, and all girls
playing 5,609 and 5,514 yards on the Canyons and Oaks, respectively.
