Asian Trade Fairs Report Fastest Growth in Space Since 2008

In its 10th annual edition, UFI's "Report on the Trade Fair Industry in Asia" finds that net space at Asian trade fairs jumped by 6.6 percent in 2013, equaling about 17.3 million net square meters. Current research shows that 17.38 million square meters of space was sold by exhibition organizers to their clients in Asia in 2013 — up from 16.31 million square meters in 2012.
Imbibe Live Reports Record Attendance
Wine and drinks exhibition Imbibe Live has reported a record attendance of 9,893 at its 2014 exhibition, held at Olympia London on 1-2 July. The trade show featured a program of over 80 sessions dedicated to education, training and tastings across all drink categories.

Cornell Study Finds Technology and Educational Opportunities Boost Trade Show Effectiveness
Trade shows remain more important than ever in the internet age, according to a new study from the Cornell Center for Hospitality Research. The study, "The Future of Trade Shows: Evolving Trends, Preferences, and Priorities," by HyunJeong "Spring" Han and Rohit Verma, finds that people attend trade shows for the classic reasons of making business contacts and gaining new knowledge.

New Canadian Anti-Spam Law May Impact U.S. Trade Shows
Anti-spam law in Canada could have a serious impact on trade show attendance marketing initiatives and exhibit sales on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border. According to the new law, which became effective 1 July, the sender of any commercial electronic message — be it email, text or possibly a social media posting — must have the prior consent of the Canadian recipient. The law applies to those sending messages from any country, including the United States.
