CEIR Third Quarter Index Results Show 2.6 Percent Overall Increase

Maintaining the momentum that started in early 2011, the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announces that data collected for the third quarter CEIR Index reveals that the total index increased by 2.6 percent compared to the same period in 2010, and was stronger than the year-on-year real GDP growth of 1.5 percent. Additionally, all four key metrics showed positive results on a year-on-year basis and the growth of all key metrics except one accelerated.

Messe Frankfurt continues to expand its position in Russia. The basis for this is the 100 percent acquisition of Interlight Moscow, which has now been officially approved and comes into effect on 1 January. The previous owner is the Nuremberg-based fair and exhibition company, OWP Ost-West-Partner GmbH. The contracts were signed in Frankfurt in November.

2,000 Turkeys Distributed at the Los Angeles Convention Center

For the fourth consecutive year, families lined up at the Los Angeles Convention Center's Bond Street parking lot the morning of 21 November, where Butterball and ARAMARK, the exclusive food service and catering partner of the Los Angeles Convention Center, donated over 2,000 turkeys to those in need so that they too might celebrate in the festive tradition of a Thanksgiving Day meal. The turkeys were unloaded and distributed via a team of over 30 convention center volunteers.

Once a year in the United States, people connected to the amusement parks industry come from far and wide to check out what is new at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions' Attractions Expo. This year's event ran 14-18 November at Orlando, Fla.'s Orange County Convention Center, and it saw a 3 percent increase to 15,300 attendees, compared with 14,600 attendees at the 2010 event.
