Tell IAM how your business is faring ... so we can improve our service to you
Each year, we survey IAM members in order to take a snapshot of the state of the industry. In particular, we are interested in finding out how our members are responding to the economic conditions of the past few years as well as how you are using digital media and mobile technology to reach new customers and efficiently conduct business. Please click on the link below to access the survey; it will take only 10 minutes to complete:

Click here to take the survey!

The information gathered through the survey will be used to set an annual benchmark for industry health and to identify where growth or stagnation is occurring. In addition, the information will be shared with the membership and posted in a future edition of The Portal Magazine. This survey should take roughly ten (10) minutes to complete.

If you are interested in the results of the survey so far, you can access the responses via the link below. The more members who participate, the more information we all can share.

Join the fight against excessive costs at US ports
Are your clients' shipments incurring unnecessary costs or lengthy delays at U.S. ports? Do the customs authorities and their designated operators cause damages and, as a result, expensive claims payouts? Let us know your experiences with intensive examinations every time one occurs by filling out the U.S. Customs Exam Survey.

The data you provide will enable IAM to lobby for relief and provide a basis upon which we can work together to find solutions to these issues in the future. Please circulate this survey to all of your coordinators so they can report what's happening each time one of your shipments is selected by U.S. Customs. Your contribution will yield huge results in the long-term as we engage government agencies and the United States Congress on this issue.

Pirate threat to container ships and bulk freight vessels down to 8-year-low
Handy Shipping Guide
The annual report from the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) shows incidents of piracy in 2014 at its lowest level in eight years, with a total of 245 incidents recorded worldwide. Whilst the number of attacks have decreased for the fourth consecutive year, there has been a noticeable upward trend in the number of vessels successfully hijacked, with 21 in 2014 compared to 12 in 2013. This increase is attributed entirely to the rise in small coastal tanker hijackings in South East Asian waters in 2014 whilst the menace of Somali pirates against container and bulk freight vessels has reduced considerably thanks to Best Management Practices and a constant vigil by the world’s naval forces.

2015 Young Movers Conference — Sofia, Bulgaria
The Young Movers Conference will take place April 16 -19, 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. This event provides a great platform for young people, the future of our industry, to mingle and network with the aim to establish better working relationships across Europe.

The program concentrates on the future: future relations, future technologies, and future innovations. The world changes at a fast pace and our industry must learn to adapt to it faster and better. Visit for further information and to register for the Young Movers Conference 2015.

Registration is open; early bird rate ends Feb. 15. IAM is proud to be a sponsor of the Young Movers Conference for the 6th consecutive year.
