Toxic or 'Toxie'? Wacky Hollywood tackles serious issue with red carpet performance
Red carpet events are common in Tinsel Town, but none quite like "The Toxies." Costumed characters — actors hired to "be" toxic chemicals — emerge from limousines to walk down the proverbial red carpet to receive "awards" for the harm they are doing to the American public. The Toxies is led by Physicians for Social Responsibility – Los Angeles and Californians for a Healthy and Green Economy with groups across the country.

Recommended by ICIM member Rick Plumb DO: 'Pariah' treatment promises to be heart disease game-changer — but will NIH fund it?
Newsmax Health
Dr. Gervasio Lamas has long been the business of healing hearts. These days, he has taken up a second calling — changing minds. Chelation treatment, the use of intravenous infusions to rid the body of metals, is what Lamas, the chief of Columbia University's cardiology division at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, calls a "pariah therapy" for treating heart disease and diabetes.

Suggested by ICIM member S. Cornelia Franz MD: Study: Unvaccinated children suffer fewer infectious diseases
Health Impact News
Thanks to Heidi Stevenson of Gaia-Health.com we have some truly investigative journalism into a study that was published regarding vaccines because she read the study herself. What she found was that the way the study was spun by their conclusions did not accurately represent all the facts the study uncovered. This seems to be an alarming trend with vaccine studies as the studies are obviously published with a pro-vaccine bias.

Concentration of aluminium in breast cyst fluids collected from women affected by gross cystic breast disease
Journal of Applied Toxicology
Gross cystic breast disease is the most common benign breast disorder, but the molecular basis of cyst formation remains to be identified. If the use of aluminium-based antiperspirant salts is involved in the etiology of gross breast cyst formation, it might be expected that aluminium would be at elevated levels in human breast cyst fluid.

Recommended by Magda Havas PhD: Scientists and physicians call health Canada to protect the public from radiofrequency radiation exposure
Dr. Magda Havas
It is unconscionable that the primary health authority in Canada, Health Canada, has failed to provide protection against radiofrequency radiation as levels continue to increase in homes, schools, hospitals, offices, airports and airplanes, city streets, and residential neighborhoods.

By ICIM member Joel P. Bowman: The vaccine wars
"I am old enough that I had most of the childhood illnesses for which vaccines are now available. I had both kinds of measles, chicken pox, mumps, and (I believe) whooping cough. I did have a number of vaccinations as a child, including small pox, tetanus and probably some others. In my early 20s, I was among those who took the first version of the vaccine for polio developed by Dr. Jonas Salk."

EDTA redistribution of lead and cadmium into the soft tissues in a human with a high lead burden — should DMSA always be used to follow EDTA in such cases?
EDTA Chelation
Intravenous sodium calcium ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid and oral 2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid have both been used to reduce the burden of lead in humans. Each of these agents enhances the mobilization of lead from different areas of the body — EDTA from the trabecular bone and DMSA from the soft tissue. A study of Korean battery workers revealed that EDTA appeared to increase the soft tissue burden of lead resulting in increased levels of aminolevulinic acid and greater subsequent lead mobilization with DMSA.

The case for retiring 'bad actor' chemicals and why we need to fundamentally change the way we make and regulate chemicals
The Toxies
At no time in human history have we been exposed to so many chemicals. There are an estimated 85,000 chemicals in the stream of commerce and very little is known about most of them. The health effects of almost half the major industrial chemicals have not been studied at all. Of those that have been studied, as many as 2,000 chemicals with known links to cancer, birth defects, reproductive impacts and other health problems are still used regularly today.

By ICIM member Terry Chappell MD: 'Questions from the Heart': Answers to 100 questions about chelation therapy, a safe alternative to bypass surgery
Amazon
Every year more than $10 billion is spent on coronary bypass surgeries that in more than half the cases are unnecessary and even dangerous. The cardiopulmonary pump used during bypass surgery may cause decreased oxygen flow leading to brain damage and memory loss. Bypass and balloon angioplasty surgeries (with a few important exceptions) are irrelevant to the natural course of heart disease.

Political update from the Alliance for Natural Health

Green smoothie? Shhh, don't mention the D word!
Alliance for Natural Health
This year it's the turn of the Guardian newspaper to fire up the skeptics and get the detox-bashing off to a rollicking start and they've done so with two consecutive pieces. According to its most recent article, apparently it's irrelevant that detox products are "snake oil." Apparently, people use them because they "make us feel virtuous." Their previous article went straight for the natural health jugular by determining that you simply "can't detox your body, it's a myth."

Congress moves to step up vaccine enforcement
Alliance for Natural Health
This is not Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. Parents deserve answers to what are reasonable questions about vaccine safety. In a predictable reaction to the recent measles outbreaks, both Republicans and Democrats in Congress filed a "Vaccines Saves Lives" resolution recently. Claiming that there is "no credible evidence" that vaccines cause "life-threatening or disabling disease," the resolution interprets the vaccination issue as some kind of national security threat—thereby supposedly trumping your right to make informed decisions about your own and your children's health. If passed, this resolution will bolster the current backlash against vaccine exemptions and pave the way for states' efforts to mandate universal vaccinations.
