Higher lutein and zeaxanthin levels may help guard against cataract

Slidell Nutritional Medicine
In the British Journal of Nutrition, Finnish researchers report that increased plasma levels of the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin are associated with a lower risk of cataract in older individuals. The study included 1,130 men and 559 women who enrolled in the Kuopio Ischemic Heart Disease Risk Factor Study from 1998-2001. Patient power will bring change

Coleen Mailfair writes,"Conrad and I just returned from the International College of Integrative Medicine Conference in Washington, D.C. Conrad was the program chair and I was an impressed member of the audience. The speakers were tops, the energy was over the top and one thing impressed me above all else. Through the presentations the truth of the passion and care for patients of these doctors screamed out at you. Each presenter, each participant brought home to me how we can change medical care in this society for good, how we could have the treatments we seek."

Healing with language: Wish list
ICIM
The problem with most wants, wishes and desires is that they tend to imply lack or need. Wanting to lose weight, for example, sends the message too fat to the unconscious mind in the same way a negative command, such as "Don't think of elephants," directs the unconscious mind toward the undesired thought. One of the hazards of affirmations is that they often "affirm" something the person doesn't believe: "I am my ideal weight and enjoy perfect health." Because everyone is "in process," everyone can know that he or she is becoming better.

Crucial advice for caregivers
EndFatigue.com
The media puts a lot of attention on the treatment of illnesses but very little on those who do a lot of the treating — the healthy spouses and other family members, like adult children and siblings, who take care of their sick loved ones. You don't have to get to the point where your body takes over to protect you from yourself. By following these four rules, you can stay healthy and happy while taking loving care of your seriously ill loved one.
