Managing Pain by Combining Detoxification, Homeopathy, and Botanicals, 'End Pain' lecture by Bruce Shelton MD
ICIM
Eventbrite - End Pain

No matter what your practice focus is, you are seeing patients in pain. Chronic pain is one of the most common reasons that people seek alternative or complementary healthcare, and more people suffer from chronic pain than suffer from diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer combined. Chronic inflammation is often the source of pain, and to stop the pain, one must address it at its source.

Learning objectives:
1. A basic overview of homeopathy and its principles
2. How inflammation causes pain
3. How pain and inflammation relate to the immune system
4. How to identify helpful ingredients and use a combination of detoxification, homeopathy, and botanicals to relieve the inflammation and stop the pain cascade

On Monday morning: Attendees will take home protocols to use to end the various types of pain such as pain from an acute injury or joint inflammation, lower back and knee pain, and earache and dental pain for the myriad of painful conditions that they see in their office daily.

Prepare for Bruce Shelton's lecture

By ICIM member James Smith DO: Diverticulitis symptoms, causes, treatment
Diverticulitis is the term used to describe an inflammation of one or several diverticula. Diverticula are pocket-like protrusions (herniations) of the mucosa through the muscular wall of the small intestine or colon. Typically, they take place in the sigmoid colon, the lower part of the large intestine. The inflammation occurs when the undigested food or bacteria becomes trapped in the structure formed by the diverticula (diverticulum). Diverticulitis is the most common complication of diverticulosis, ie. the presence of diverticula

The folate plot
Philip Maffetone
The discovery in 1991 that about 70 percent of neural tube defects, a group of serious birth defects, could be prevented by the consumption of synthetic folic acid led to a major health promotion campaign in many Western countries, by governments, and those in healthcare and industry. The objective would be for women to take 400 micrograms of synthetic folic acid daily before getting pregnant. Authors of a just published study (Andrew Boilson and colleagues in Am J Clin Nutr;96) state that "this campaign largely failed in its objective, in part because more than half of all pregnancies are unplanned."
