Learn what forms of iodine you need and why there is not enough iodine in salt. See how iodine can help: breast cancer, fibrocystic breast disease, detoxification, fatigue, Graves' disease, and Hashimoto's disease. Find out why iodine deficiency may be the root cause of thyroid problems including hypothyroidism and thyroid cancer. Letter from ICIM member Ellie Campbell DO
Dear esteemed ICIM colleague,
2014 must be the unofficial international year of the brain. In the past six months, National Geographic, Scientific American, and Life Extension magazine have all featured cover stories on the science of the brain. The Obama Administration announced in June, $4.5 billion in funding for brain research over the next 12 years for the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies Initiative. Ads for businesses like Lumosity and Brain Games are seen everywhere.

"End Pain" Speaker book of the week

By ICIM 'End Pain' speaker Guy Chamberland: 'Successful Battle in Treating Low Back Pain with Herbal Remedies (Natural Pain Management)'
This textbook, "Successful Battle in Treating Low Back Pain with Herbal Remedies" was written to tell people about my personal battle with low back pain. Five years later, no surgery, but I still use herbs to manage pain flare ups and insomnia. A lot of people asked why I decided to develop a natural pain line and devote my life to natural pain management. It is not a substitute for the book, "The Use of Herbal Remedies in the Treatment of Pain" that explains the science behind herbal pain management. This book finally tells my battle with low back pain.

Practice Management

Legal viewpoint: MDs operating Web-based health and wellness businesses
Many physicians are dissatisfied with their medical practice and wonder whether they can legally open a side online health and wellness business — be it online health and wellness coaching, dietary supplement sales, Skype second medical opinions, or another health venture. The first thing to know about developing a side online, mobile or virtual presence in the health and wellness industry is that usually, several interlocking legal rules will apply and there is not an easy determination of "legal" or "illegal."
