Jan. 3-10, 2015, Members Community Retreat at Maya Tulum, Mexico

ICIM member Robert Rowen, MD: On a mission to cure Ebola
Letter from Robert Rowen, MD:

To my family, friends and patients: This is basically a joint letter from Dr. Howard Robins and myself to everyone in our lives who care about what is going on in the world. He sent one to his group. This nearly mirrored letter goes to my group.

Thank you all for your love, your concern, your support and even your worries about our upcoming mission of mercy to West Africa. My physician/nurse wife, Terri has been very supportive and recognizes that any risk I am taking is for the greater good of the entire world. My extended medical family, remains extremely concerned, not understanding of the curative powers of ozone therapy. (Hence, I am not to touch an ebola patient, but I will treat our American team every day we are there.) However, my medical family realizes there is great danger to the entire world in the face of this epidemic. In the meantime, the humanitarian mission is expanding in ways I could not have imagined!

ICIM member Dr. Blaurock-Busch: Engaging in dialogue with Dr. Barrett of Quackwatch:
Blue words: Dr. Blaurock-Busch
Black words: Dr. Barrett

I am very pleased to hear from you and am eager to communicate further.

In your statement (revised July 1, 2014) about urinary metals and how certain laboratories "defraud" patients, you also list Micro Trace Minerals of Germany.

The article does not accuse the laboratories of defrauding patients. It describes (accurately) how test reports are used (by practitioners) to mislead patients, which is why we considered provoked testing a scam.

I have written to you about this topic previously. I assume you did not receive the note, hence I will repeat my comments.

Follow up article from 'End Pain' speaker Helene Leonetti: Transdermal progesterone cream as an alternative progestin in hormone therapy
To evaluate the endometrial effects and determine patients' acceptance of transdermal progesterone cream compared to standard hormone therapy. Healthy menopausal women were recruited and received a pretreatment endometrial biopsy. They were randomized to 0.625 mg conjugated equine estrogen daily and 2.5 mg medroxyprogesterone acetate (Prempro, Wyeth USA) or daily 0.625 mg CEE and twice daily 20 mg transdermal PC (Pro-gest, Transitions for Health USA). At the end of six months, a repeat EMB was obtained, and the women were crossed over to other treatment. A final EMB was performed after the final six months.

Unless Congress acts, patients may soon lose access to primary care
    Medical Xpress
A national report showing the benefits of preventing a reduction in the rates physicians receive for providing Medicaid services was released today by the American College of Physicians. The report, "Why Congress Must Save the Medicaid Primary Care Pay Parity Program: Unless Congress Acts, Program to Ensure Access to Life-Saving Primary Care Will Expire," explains why it is critical to ensure Medicaid patients' access to internists and pediatricians (and their related subspecialists), family physicians, and obstetricians/gynecologists who provide mostly primary care.
