Nice is even nicer when it's LGBT-welcoming
IGLTA    Share    E-mail article
The Palais de la Méditerranée hosted an informational seminar organized by the Nice Convention & Visitors Bureau last week to prepare the launch of the city's gay and lesbian marketing program. More than 50 local business leaders and LGBT association representatives attended. CVB General Manager Denis Zanon presented the program rollout, reminding attendees of all that Nice has to offer the gay and lesbian traveler and the many benefits of courting the LGBT clientele. Joining Zanon were Laurent Quiege, chief of staff of the Paris associate mayor's office in charge of tourism; Eric Dufour, co-founder of the local LGBT association AGLAE; and IGLTA European Ambassador Clark Massad. Referring to the importance for local businesses to train their personnel in the proper ways to host LGBT clients, Zanon said, "The gay and lesbian clientele wants the right to be different, while still seeking the same respect as everyone else." A sensitivity seminar, which will include a GayComfort™ training session, will be held in February, followed by marketing, promotional and special event efforts in the coming months.
