A night at the symphony
IGLTA
The London Symphony Orchestra kicked off its celebration of composer Benjamin Britten's centenary year by hosting an evening for U.K. IGLTA members on 18 April. Guests were treated to a stunning concert performance of Britten's chilling opera The Turn of the Screw. Based on Henry James' spine-tingling Victorian ghost story, this work for six singers and a chamber orchestra of 13 starred Royal Opera House soprano Sally Matthews as The Governess and was conducted by Music Director of Opera North, Richard Farnes. "It was exquisite," said IGLTA member Jay Munro-Mitchell of ETOA.
