More wedding ceremonies available for gay couples, but legal barriers remain
The Asahi Shimbun
Two men exchanged vows, held hands and slowly walked down a red carpet. Onlookers cheered, cameras flashed and soap bubbles floated in the air. With rings on their left hands, the smiling couple said they had gained confidence in the wedding ceremony. The Oct. 11 ceremony, part of the Kansai Rainbow Festa for sexual minorities in Osaka, Japan's, Kita Ward, is part of a growing trend among companies offering wedding-related services to same-sex couples.

IOC moves to support gay rights in Olympics
Chicago Tribune
Nine months after a Sochi Winter Olympics embattled by the host country’s anti-gay legislation, the International Olympic Committee took a philosophical stand Monday against future intolerance surrounding an Olympic Games. "There is no greater sign of progress in combating homophobia in sports than to have the oldest organized athletic competition in the history of the world saying enough is enough," Hudson Taylor, executive director of gay rights group Athlete Ally, said in a statement immediately after the IOC added "sexual orientation" to the anti-discrimination language of the Olympic Charter.
