The 2018 National Resident Matching Program marked the ninth consecutive year of increasing numbers of matches to family medicine residency programs. Data showed there were 3,654 family medicine positions offered, an increase of 276 from 2017, and 3,535 medical students and graduates matched to family medicine, an increase of 298 from last year.
TMF Health Quality Institute
The 2017 reporting deadline for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), part of the Quality Payment Program (QPP), is March 31, 2018. If you're a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist or certified registered nurse anesthetist and you haven't yet reported, double-check your eligibility at https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup.
If you are eligible and haven't reported, it's not too late. Contact TMF Health Quality Institute today for free help at QPP-SURS@tmf.org or https://tmf.org/qpp. A TMF consultant will walk you through the steps to access the QPP Portal and help you identify data you already have so that you can successfully report and avoid a negative payment adjustment.
National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is April 21–28. Take the opportunity to highlight the important role vaccines play in protecting children and communities from serious diseases.
You and your staff have an important role in helping parents choose vaccines for their children. To highlight childhood immunizations this NIIW:

Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative
The PCPCC webinar: Transforming Clinical Practice by Supporting Patient and Family Decision Making will highlight the work of leading organizations and their efforts to engage patients and families in making smart decisions about their health care. The panelists organizations are collaborating with PCPCC's Support and Alignment Network (SAN) to integrate Choosing Wisely into quality improvement activities that support practices enrolled in the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI).

The amount you receive and length of your commitment depends on where you serve—service at sites in higher-need areas yields greater loan repayments. It also depends on whether you select the full-time or half-time option. Johnson County ranks healthiest in Kansas and Republic County is the least healthy county in the state, according to the ninth annual County Health Rankings, released March 14, 2018, by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI). Registration is open for the webinar and workshop from the National Quality Forum (NQF) on strategies for opioid stewardship. The webinar will highlight the National Quality Partners' (NQP) Playbook™: Opioid Stewardship, developed in partnership with AHRQ. The Playbook encourages healthcare organizations to develop realistic measurement strategies to assess key areas such as clinician prescribing patterns, adherence to best practices, and the use of non-pharmacologic pain management.
