APRN scope of practice expansion bill threatens safety of patients — Speak out
KAFP
The 2014 Legislative session is around the corner. You may recall during the 2013 Legislative session, the APRNs introduced a bill (HB 2251) which would dissolve the collaborative practice agreement between a physician and an APRN. The bill did not advance but the bill is getting attention for the 2014 Legislative session. This proposal eliminates any requirement that APRNs work with physician supervision or collaboration and would allow nurses to practice medicine and surgery without any statutory limitation on the functions they could perform.

Migration after family medicine residency - A Robert Graham Center study
AAFP
A Robert Graham Center (RGC) Policy one-pager on the migration after family medicine residency is available. Using the 2009 American Medical Association Physician Masterfile, the researchers found that 56% of family medicine residents stay within 100 miles of where they graduate from residency.
The information contained in the one-pager seems to support current efforts to decentralize graduate medical education training through models such as teaching health centers and rural training tracks, though more research is needed to explore the practice site rather than just the training location.
