    News from LOCATOR

Were you one of the more than 51,000 people who visited Locatoronline.com in January?

    ➢ Over 1.3 Million Hits!
➢ Almost 1 Million Page Views (up almost 45 percent!)
➢ Average visitor session length up over 27 percent!

While many websites in the industry continue to trend downward, our website traffic has been trending up over the last 24 months. Our recent SEO initiative has nearly doubled our website user session length since this time last year. That means potential buyers are spending twice the amount of time looking at your machines! No more coming and going, they’re here to buy. In addition to improving the way we use our H1 Tags, we rewrote our Title Tags for greater optimization. We optimized all of our images and certain other elements to increase page load speed. This greatly improved our relevance scores and made us even more attractive to the algorithms that Google, Bing, and other web browsers use. The end user experience has improved dramatically with faster page loads and the ability to view all machines under a single category without having to leave the page. We are quickly becoming the site that buyers go to Locate used machines. They can now navigate within broader categories. They can click on a listing and navigate to other listings from that dealer, listings from that manufacturer or listings within that category. Remember, they can’t buy your machines if they can’t Locate them. If you’re not currently listing your machines at Locator then you’re missing out on thousands of prospective buyers.

We will continue to trend up and the value of the listings and ads at Locator will continue to increase!

If you would like to discuss the advantages of putting a display ad in our directory and online or have never advertised with Locator Services before, simply call Jim Bowman at 703-683-5957 or email JBowman@locatoronline.com. He would be happy to help you round out your sales and marketing strategy and discuss which products and services would work best for you.

Intellectual property challenges facing the manufacturing sector in 2015
    Global Manufacturing
The manufacturing sector comprises a group of diverse and highly innovative businesses, which are ever changing in accordance with market forces and technological advancements. That this is the case is reinforced by the findings published in the Foresight Report which predicts that "manufacturing in 2050 will look very different from today and will be virtually unrecognizable from that of 30 years ago."

Manufacturing in US expands at slowest pace in a year
    Bloomberg
Factories expanded in January at the weakest pace in a year as orders cooled, a sign weakness in overseas markets is restraining U.S. manufacturing. The Institute for Supply Management's index dropped to 53.5 from 55.1 in December, a report from the Tempe, Arizona-based group showed. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of 74 economists called for a decline to 54.5. Readings greater than 50 signal growth.

California still has nation's largest manufacturing sector
    The Sacramento Bee
Although California's industrial sector has been declining for decades and today employs just 8 percent of the state's workers, it still generates a very large portion of the state's economic output, a new Census Bureau report indicates. California had more manufacturing businesses (38,741) than any other state in 2012 and their 1.2 million employees were also the largest industrial workforce of any state, the report says. Those workers produced products valued at $512.3 billion, up 4.3 percent from the previous industrial census in 2007.

3-D printing moves into the manufacturing mainstream
    Automation World
Long viewed as a design and testing tool, 3-D printing is quickly moving into regular manufacturing operations as evidenced by recent announcements from Renishaw and Stratysys. For years, the talk around 3-D printing/additive manufacturing has been about how it will, one day soon, transform the manufacturing industry. Though the full transformation has not yet arrived, the process of moving 3-D technology out of purely prototyping applications and lab development and into the manufacturing process has definitely begun.
