Is your current system keeping you up at night?

Are you concerned that one day soon you will not be able to access your data and it will be trapped in your system never to be seen or heard from again? Are you worried that day could be tomorrow? Are your support calls going unanswered, unreturned or unacknowledged? Chances are that if you are using outdated technology you answered “Yes” to many of these questions.

Don't let aging technology and non-existent customer support keep you up at night. At Locator Services we have successfully migrated data from marginally supported systems for years. Whether your system is an in house legacy system or built on archaic technology that is no longer supported we can help you.
    • Use a web interface that works like a website, using the same navigation logic so it's easy to learn and is accessible from ANYWHERE you have internet connectivity!
    • Capture customer information, including contacts, contact information, machinery types, machines owned, quote history, custom search codes and more.
    • Record inventory details, location, photos, video link, quote and advertising destinations.
    • Quote machines with photo links directly in email messages.
    • Quote one or several people, or send information to a distribution list.
    • Add custom fields for customers, inventory and wanteds, as well as manage administrative settings and users.
    • Use Web Services to populate your website and send information to advertising destinations like Locator.
If you are still using an in-house application or older technology system and would like to migrate to a newer state of the art system simply call Jim Bowman at 703-683-5957 or email JBowman@locatoronline.com. He would also be happy to schedule an online demonstration of the software for you at your earliest convenience. MDNA members may qualify for a 10 percent discount!

US manufacturing faces a 2 million worker shortage
    Reliable Plant Magazine
The United States faces a need for nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs over the next decade, and 2 million of those jobs are likely to go unfilled due to a skills gap, according to new research from Deloitte and the Manufacturing Institute. Two parallel studies — "The Skills Gap in U.S. Manufacturing: 2015 and Beyond" and "Overwhelming Support: U.S. Public Opinions on the Manufacturing Industry" — draw perspectives from U.S. manufacturing executives and the American public to reveal that American manufacturing companies face a significant skills gap over the next decade, largely fueled by baby boomer retirement and too few young people who see the industry as a career destination.

You don't have to trade accuracy for speed in a manufacturing translation project
    Manufacturing
Carpenters abide by the guiding principle "measure twice, cut once" to limit construction mistakes and wasted material. Accuracy is equally as important in manufacturing as any errors in measurements, figures and descriptions might result in an ineffective product or even consumer danger. Consider the safety risk posed by a medical device manufacturer that uses inconsistent units of measure, or the potential impact that misunderstood instructions on the assembly line could pose for an automaker. The potential for error rises when manufacturers translate content into new languages for international markets.

Manufacturing in US expands at slowest pace in a year
    Bloomberg
Manufacturing expanded in February at the slowest pace in a year as weaker growth abroad limited orders for American-made products. The Institute for Supply Management's index dropped to 52.9, the lowest since January 2014, from 53.5 a month earlier, the Arizona-based group's report showed. Readings above 50 indicate growth and the median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists was 53.

Robots could cut US labor costs 22 percent by 2025
    By Alan Kelsky
One of the most important technological trends taking place in the United States' manufacturing sector is the use of advanced robotics on the production line. Now that the economic recovery is a reality, U.S. manufacturers still need to be able to shut down cheaper manufacturers overseas. Robots seem to be an excellent way to accomplish this. In fact, a new study by the Boston Consulting Group asserts that increasing workplace automation will result in the United States saving 22 percent on labor costs, while the top 25 countries in the world that export goods can average a 16 percent savings.
