The Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund was created as a benefit to children of MDNA Member Firm employees.
Completed applications must be received by May 15, 2019, at the MDNA Headquarters for consideration for the following Fall Semester. Get the 2019-2020 Scholarship Application here!
The Scholarship Fund is selling raffle tickets as their primary fundraiser for 2019. Only 300 tickets are sold at $100 each. The winner receives $10,000. Other monetary prizes are given totaling $15,000. The drawing will be held at the MDNA Convention in Palm Springs, California.

Auto giant General Motors has announced it will begin manufacturing a new electric vehicle (EV), with the news coming shortly after previously reported plant closures took effect. Meanwhile, the IRS has confirmed that an electric car subsidy is now being phased out. Layoffs from the plant closures have been a thorn in the side of the Trump administration's spotlight on Rust Belt manufacturing jobs.
New orders for key U.S.-made capital goods slipped in February and shipments were unchanged, but data for January was revised slightly higher, which could support views that the manufacturing sector was stabilizing. The Commerce Department's mixed report last week came on the heels of a survey showing a rebound in a measure of factory activity in March from a more than two-year low.
President Trump threatened to put tariffs on cars coming into the U.S. from Mexico, if Mexico does not do enough to prevent illegal immigration into the U.S. and if it does not crack down on drugs crossing the border. He said that he would give Mexico a year to prevent immigrants from entering the U.S. before following through on the auto taxes.
A gauge of U.S. factories topped estimates in March, rising from a two-year low on strength in employment and orders and signaling stabilization after a rocky few months. The Institute for Supply Management index rose to 55.3 from 54.2 as three of five main components increased. The result topped estimates in a Bloomberg survey calling for a rise to 54.5 and remained above the 50 level that indicates expansion.
Most major automakers capped the first quarter with declining U.S. sales again in March, as the sugar high from last year's tax cuts wore off and the economy lost steam. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, Nissan Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. each reported deliveries dropped for the month and are down year-to-date. General Motors Co., which releases results only on a quarterly basis, said sales slumped across all four of its brands.
The manufacturing industry in China has experienced a surprise growth following the government's attempts to increase the economy, according to BBC News. After the Caixin/Markit Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) survey released on April 1, it was announced that the sector has risen to 50.8 up from 49.9 the previous month.
Customer satisfaction is increasingly important in the manufacturing sector, just as it is in consumer-facing industries such as retail. Customer expectations are rising across the board, and manufacturers are demanding greater responsiveness and additional visibility into the service of their equipment as they strive to maximize uptime.
