Suppose you owned an airline and ordered an engine from Rolls-Royce or GE. What are you really looking for? A piece of machinery to meet a product need? Or a powerful, safe, and reliable means to deliver air passengers to their destinations?
This question has been top of mind lately among manufacturers aiming to drive profitable growth, triggering a fundamental shift to the way a business operates that increasingly focuses on outcomes.

The goal of sustainable manufacturing is producing products in ways that have a minimal negative influence on the environment. In order to accomplish this, manufacturers use processes that reduce and prevent greenhouse gases, conserve natural resources and energy and do not harm workers or consumers. Here are some important ways manufacturers can apply best practices for sustainable manufacturing.
U.S. manufacturing grew for a third straight month in May, but factories appeared to be taking in fewer deliveries from their suppliers, which could hamper production in the months ahead.
Other data showed automobile sales slowing last month and a sharp drop in construction spending in April, bucking the recent flow of relatively strong data that suggested economic growth was regaining speed in the second quarter.
Today's Medical Developments
The ever-widening industrial digital ecosystem has manufacturers juggling rising investments in technologies with expectations these investments will lower costs and generate new revenue. At the same time, adoption of these technologies are forcing manufacturers on paths to fundamentally transform their business models — and cultures — as a result. As adoption rates of digital manufacturing technologies cross the threshold to mainstream, PwC's latest survey uncovers how businesses are wading into an era of true re-invention.
