US manufacturing in position to regain millions of jobs by 2020
    Manufacturing.net
U.S. manufacturing underwent a very successful July, based on the Institute for Supply Management's monthly factory index. The ISM index sprung to 55.4 in July — up from an average of 50.2 from April to June this year, and far exceeding industry expectations. Lower domestic energy prices, along with economic uncertainty in other key global manufacturing regions like China and Europe have played a pivotal role in influencing long term manufacturing growth for America.

3-D printing is changing manufacturing in Minnesota
    KSTP-TV
VideoBriefManufacturing is the second-largest industry in Minnesota. But these days, the way they manufacture is changing. One example is at Minneapolis-based Tennant, a company that makes floor cleaning equipment. When testing products, they used to make aluminum prototypes. It took weeks to make just one par, and it cost about $3,000. Now they use 3-D printers to make plastic prototypes that cost $80 and save a ton of time.

Connecting the youth with the next generation of manufacturing
    The Huffington Post
What if you told your kids there was a place where they could hold ideas in the palms of their hands? A place where shiny materials delivered by trucks, rails, planes and boats from around the globe are transformed into fun and exciting toys. Where humans and machines are on the same team and teach one another new things every day. They might not believe it when you tell them that place is a manufacturing facility, but National Manufacturing Day, held Oct. 4, aimed to help change that.

Manufacturing, supplier website created for North California
    ChicoER News
North state manufacturers and suppliers have a new place to connect that's all about the north state. An online directory for north state manufacturers and suppliers called California North State Manufacturing Directory was unveiled. The idea belongs to Bill Gaines of Transfer Flow, a Chico manufacturer who saw a need for manufacturers to be able to connect with each other to access services and products. It's all about north state manufacturers working with each other, rather than buying from a source across the country, as well as helping local economies.
