Is Japan losing edge on vending machines?
The Wall Street Journal    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
It's enough to make you cry into your ramen. First, the bullet trains aren't 100 percent perfect, and now Japan's losing out on its vaunted vending machine innovation — or so it would appear, from recent stories on the arrival in Tokyo of a vending machine that sells gold. Despite all the hoopla, Japan wasn't the first place to set up gold vending machines. The first such machines were sighted in Germany in June 2009, and installed in Abu Dhabi a year later. NAMA's Fit Pick Program is adopted by Tennessee

Tennessee adopts NAMA's "Fit Pick" Program! The state of Tennessee has signed Executive Order No. 69, "An order promoting healthy food and beverage options in executive branch state public properties," more commonly known as "Healthy Vending," which requires that 25 percent of all products in vending machines on state property be filled with products that meet NAMA's Fit Pick nutrition standard. Special thanks to the Tennessee Automatic Merchandising Association, also known as TAMA. TAMA's lobbyist, Martha Gentry, worked hard to promote the use of NAMA's Fit Pick standards to fulfill this executive order.
