Landmark research details the economic significance of the meetings and events industry to the US economy

The Convention Industry Council recently released a new study: "The Economic Significance of Meetings to the U.S. Economy," revealing that the U.S. meetings industry directly supports 1.7 million jobs, a $106 billion contribution to GDP, $263 billion in spending, $60 billion in labor revenue, $14.3 billion in federal tax revenue and $11.3 billion in state and local tax revenue. The study, conducted by PwC US, assisted by a team of industry researchers, spanned more than a year in research and analysis and is the first-ever study of the size and scope of its kind. More

The wait for Dunkin' Donuts single-serve Keurig cups is over. Canton, Mass., based Dunkin’ has signed a deal with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters to make the K-Cup portion packs available in its coffee shops starting this summer. Dunkin’ Donuts will offer 14-count boxes of Dunkin' K-Cups exclusively at participating Dunkin' restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. More

Seth Goldman, the president and Tea-E-O of Honest Tea, made it official this week: The Coca-Cola Co. will exercise its option to buy all of Honest Tea, the Bethesda, Md., maker of organic, healthy beverages. Coke bought 40 percent of the firm for a reported $43 million in 2008, a controversial move at the time for the upstart company that positioned itself as a challenger to the conventional way of doing business in the beverage industry.
