USA Today    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Olympic doping officials are considering whether to tweak their tests after a recent British study showed green tea might hide testosterone from the standard test used to spot it. Bottled water industry launches marketing battle against tap water
Triple Pundit    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
VideoBrief The bottled water industry is not taking the recent backlash lying down. Instead it has launched a marketing battle "to turn the public back onto plastic bottled water," as the Ecologist puts it. In the U.S., the battle is being waged by the International Bottled Water Association trade association. The IBWA even launched a YouTube video against what it terms the "anti-bottled water activism on college campuses." Businesses to pay scanner inspection fees
Santa Maria Times    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Businesses in Santa Barbara County, Calif., that use commercial devices such as scales and water vending machines, and those that have scanners, will soon be paying more to have those machines registered and inspected. The decision followed a February meeting at which supervisors directed Cathy Fisher, county agricultural commissioner and director of weights and measures, to explore the option of reducing registration fees for businesses that provide water vending machines such as those seen outside grocery stores. As a result of protests that scanner inspection fees would hurt small businesses, the board also had directed Fisher to draft a small business exemption for the scanner program. More
