As part of NAMA's on-going partnership with and our membership in the National Association of Manufacturers and The Manufacturing Institute, we are assisting in an important study that they are conducting with Deloitte examining the impact of the shortage of qualified workers with the skills manufacturers need to compete successfully in the 21st century economy.

India coffee crop may rise to record on weather

Coffee production in India, the third biggest grower in Asia, may rise 6.7 percent to a record next year aided by good rains, and likely boosting exports. Output for the crop year starting Oct. 1 may rise to 322,250 metric tons from 302,000 tons a year ago. A record crop in India, which exports almost two-thirds of its output, may cool robusta coffee prices, which jumped 24 percent in the first five months this year, before sliding 4 percent in June. Aspen company says its bottled water an environmentally sound alternative

In recent weeks, the city of Aspen has urged locals and visitors to wean themselves off of commercially sold bottled water and switch to the municipal variety, which is being marketed on the city's website, three filling stations at local parks and on reusable containers as "Aspen Tap." More

Health groups demand better calorie labeling

More than 80 members of the health community came together to demand that the Obama Administration improve the new set of rules requiring calorie labeling on menus and vending machines. The proposed regulations, put forth by the Food and Drug Administration in April, are a result of the health care reform act of 2010, which mandated that restaurants and owners of vending machines post calorie counts alongside food offerings. Technomic: Food truck phenomenon is no passing fad

America's love affair with food trucks shows no signs of abating, according to new consumer research. Technomic, a Chicago-based market research firm, conducted a survey in which 91 percent of respondents familiar with food trucks regarded the trend as having staying power and not being a passing fad.
