Speculators bid up coffee prices
Chicago Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Grocery shoppers have seen whopping increases this year in the price of coffee, whether it's a store brand, Folgers or Maxwell House. The retail price of coffee in July was up 20.7 percent over the same month last year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which tracks changes in grocery store prices. Big coffee marketers have trimmed prices a bit for consumers in recent weeks, but the price of contracts for future delivery of coffee continues to rise unabated. More

Good news, coffee lovers: Your buzz is getting cheaper
CNN Money    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Like a caffeine junkie on a morning buzz, the price of coffee futures began spiraling higher in late 2010 — and coffee brands passed those higher costs on to consumers. The buzz has worn off, at least briefly. Coffee futures had dropped some 1.7 percent over the past six months, and now java lovers are enjoying price cuts on some popular brands. More

Nestle Waters ranks highest in recycling study
Connecticut Post    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail

In the U.S., only 29 percent of the more than 200 billion beverage containers sold every year are actively recycled; the majority piles up in landfills and goes to waste. In light of a recent review by nonprofit group As You Sow, some of the top companies in the beverage industry are seeking to change that. This year, Stamford-based Nestle Waters North America received the highest ranking in the new report on corporate recycling conducted by As You Sow, a shareholder advocacy group that promotes corporate accountability. For an American, or even a Brit, a cup and saucer filled up for high tea may be the traditional thinking of how tea is served. But throughout the world, this universal drink is served in hundreds of different ways, from the traditional tea ceremonies in Japan to small tea bowls from Tibet. Every entrepreneur needs to embrace team conflict
Forbes    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail

Many entrepreneurs are not prepared for conflict, or actively avoid it. Their vision, passion, and focus are so strong that they can't imagine someone disagreeing, much less fighting them to the death. Here are a few simple rules of thumb toward constructive conflict resolution. More

Apriva reports that its Apriva Vend cashless payment system has been chosen for integration into the Just Squeezed fresh orange juice venders operated by Orange Life LLC at locations across the Just Squeezed network. The system is expected to begin rolling out later this year. The Just Squeezed machine, manufactured in Italy and popular in Europe, is bulk-loaded with oranges and prepares a portion of freshly squeezed juice when a vend is initiated; a window in the front allows the patron to watch the process.
