Dunkin' to launch 1st hot dark-roast coffee

Dunkin' Donuts recently debuted its new dark-roast coffee at a Modesto, California, store, with plans to launch the blend nationwide on Sept. 22. The new blend is the first hot dark roast in the company's 64-year history, reports the Wall Street Journal, noting that Dunkin' says the dark roast represents its most important coffee launch since it launched espresso, latte and cappuccino in 2003.

Drinking green tea prevents spinal cord damage?

According to a study published in the journal Neural Regeneration Research, drinking green tea may protect your brain in case of a spinal cord injury. Chinese researchers suggest that green is loaded with polyphenols, strong antioxidants, which protect spinal cord neurons against oxidative stress induced by free radicals generated by the body. The results of lab experiments on rats showed that green tea extracts significantly reduces oxidative stress and reduce neuronal apoptosis.

Thai green tea maker Ichitan to build new plant in Indonesia

Thailand's largest green tea maker Ichitan Group said it would set up a joint venture with Indonesia's PT Atri Pasifix to build a new plant in Indonesia with an authorised capital of 1.18 billion baht ($37 million). The move is the first foreign expansion for Ichitan, part of a drive to tap into a market where demand for green tea is expected to grow at an average of 15 percent a year, the company said in a statement.
