By Deborah Wipf
A robot only takes orders. It receives commands and completes the tasks as specified. It can't really think for itself; it can only do what it's been programmed to do. Does that sound a bit too close to what some of your employees do? Do you distribute tasks and receive reports back when each is completed? Is that really all you want in a team member?

By Robin Carver
Which is better: traditional media (radio, television and print) or social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.)? Should you sink time and money into both or just one? With a growing plethora of social media options, which are far less costly than traditional media, some of you might be questioning spending money on those pricey TV, radio and print ads to encourage business. Not just a hot cup anymore
The New York Times
More than 20 years ago, 79-year-old Stella Liebeck ordered coffee at a McDonald's drive-through in Albuquerque, N.M. She spilled the coffee, was burned, and one year later, sued McDonald's. The jury awarded her $2.9 million. Her story became a media sensation and fodder for talk-show hosts, late-night comedians, sitcom writers and even political pundits. But cleverness may have come at the expense of context, as this Retro Report video illustrates. And below, a consumer affairs reporter for The Times reflects on how the world has changed since the lawsuit.

7 powerful images coffee lovers will understand
PolicyMic
Oh, coffee. It's either man's best friend or man's best enemy, depending on who you ask. In America's case, however, it's the liquid fuel that keeps the country running. New York City alone drinks seven times more coffee than other cities in the U.S. There are almost 11,000 Starbucks locations across the country and there's a heated debate about what city has the best coffee in the country. In honor of our country's love for a good ole cup of joe, here are seven powerful images that every coffee lover will understand.

Fast Company
The pour-over coffee process provides a ritual rich with tactility. Because as cognitively as one might approach the process, measuring the beans, controlling the grind, bringing the water up to just the right temperature and weighing how much water to add, pour-over requires more than proper titration. Each new cup necessitates just a little bit of skill and a little bit of grace, grounded in a series of meditative gut checks.
