FTC issues final Business Opportunity Rule

The Federal Trade Commission released its final amended Business Opportunity Rule, which will go into effect on March 1, 2012. The new disclosure regulation aims to lighten the federal compliance burden for business opportunity sellers and help their prospective buyers assess the risks. Biz ops such as vending machines, rack display routes and assemble-at-home crafts are covered, but not franchises. More

Tea market thrives despite tough economy

The U.S. market for tea sold at retail will reach $6.5 billion in 2011, up 5.2 percent over the last year, according to "Tea and Ready-to-Drink Tea in the U.S.," a recent report from market research firm Packaged Facts. Although supermarkets remain the top venue for leaf tea and ready-to-drink tea, tea sales have also been strong in alternative outlets such as convenience stores and natural food supermarkets.
