Business 2 Community
With the holiday season here, many people are downshifting their workloads, focusing more on holiday parties and time with family than office tasks. If you're tasked with recruiting sales talent for your organization, you might believe you should do the same, but you'd be wrong. 5 year end payroll tips for small businesses
CPA Practice Advisor
The last fiscal year ended with a lot of uncertainty for accountants, partly due to the extension of the Bush-era tax breaks when the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 passed in the Senate at the beginning of 2013. Further tax reforms were fielded from both sides of the aisle and the White House during 2014, but most are currently stalled until 2015 or after the 2016 elections. This has left business owners and accountants dealing with uncertainty over the impact of expired provisions, as well as calculating the effect of new regulations. Now is the time to close the books on 2014, so your business can grow and thrive in 2015.

Disappoint them, and you risk turning them off forever. It's not easy to keep service levels high when lines are long and customers get cranky. But customer service is one area where small businesses can beat big-box competitors. "The real differentiator for small business is providing the excellent, personalized customer service that has been lost in retail today," says Ronald Goodstein, associate professor of marketing at Georgetown University. Here are six tips for boosting customer service this month.

23 K-Cups, ranked by a world-class barista
Yahoo Food
The Keurig K-Cup Brewing System has revolutionized the way people drink coffee, but this revolution certainly won't be televised in coffee shops. Baristas generally loathe the thing, partly because they think it makes inferior coffee, and partly because it could very well put them out of a job. To see how K-Cups stand up to a professional palate, we tapped Lorenzo Perkins to rank 23 of them. He's an all-around coffee guru from Cuvée in Austin, Texas, who previously lent his tasting prowess to experiments with grocery store-caliber and second-wave beans. So he kinda knows what he's talking about.
