NEWS FROM NARFE

2 weeks in Washington, 2 weeks of recess
NARFE
During the first two weeks of April, members of Congress will be on Capitol Hill. Then both chambers will be in recess for the two weeks spanning Easter and Passover, April 13-26. Now is a great time to request a meeting while members are home during those two weeks. Most offices use webforms for requesting an invitation to a federation convention or chapter meeting. These webforms are found by clicking on the "Contact Me" tab from the member's homepage. NARFE's legislative staff (leg@narfe.org or 703-838-7760) is happy to provide assistance, talking points and any other information to make your meeting a success. Face-to-face meetings are a huge NARFE advantage only if employed.

Democrats call for study of declining federal-worker morale
The Washington Post
Three Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have asked the Government Accountability Office to examine recent declines in federal-worker morale and how to reverse the trend. Reps. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., who is the panel's ranking member, along with Gerry Connolly, D-Va., and Stephen Lynch, D-Mass., said in a letter to the GAO that pay freezes and furloughs caused by across-the-board budget cuts and last year's government shutdown have taken a toll on the federal workforce.
