On July 24, the NJDOT on behalf of Gov. Chris Christie announced that applications are no being accepted for FY2018 State Aid Programs. The programs included are as follows: Municipal Aid, Transit Village, Bikeways and Safe Streets to Transit.
Applications must be completed and submitted on or before Friday, Oct. 6.

The bipartisan campaign to convince the online retail giant to open a corporate center in New Jersey comes after Amazon officials announced earlier this month that they were seeking proposals from places that would be interested in hosting what would be a second company headquarters to complement its Seattle HQ.

Democratic lawmakers from New York and New Jersey are introducing legislation Thursday to force federal transportation officials to implement a rule to test train engineers for sleep apnea. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and New Jersey U.S. Sen. Cory Booker announced the legislation a week after the National Transportation Safety Board said that the engineers involved in crashes in Hoboken and Brooklyn were suffering from undiagnosed sleep apnea.

Single unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs) directed by joysticks, radio controllers, and mobile phones are already accomplishing a variety of useful tasks, such as aerial photography and security patrols. But using multiple drones requires multiple human operators, and this presents a coordination problem. Now a single operator using emerging human-brain interfaces can control a swarm of drones, making possible new classes of applications, according to Panos Artemiadis, director of the Human-Oriented Robotics and Control (HORC) Lab at Arizona State University.
