A new analysis of last year's federal labor statistics breaks down construction's top earners by job category.
CEOs take the top spot, unsurprisingly. The review of Bureau of Labor Statistics data by the National Association of Home Builders of all categories of construction firms, including residential and commercial, found that other top-paying jobs include construction lawyers, sales managers and those who work in marketing and information systems.

Crain's New York Business
New Jersey Transit's first new station in almost two decades for the nation's busiest train line promises to ease Manhattan commutes, boost property values and unclog highways. But skeptics warn that the project could actually worsen congestion.
The plan omits a crucial traffic reliever, a $300 million flyover track that would let trains make U-turns near the new North Brunswick stop. It also skips bidding by potential private managers, giving control to a local public agency that's a political stronghold with a mixed record on its projects.

The governor of New Jersey has signed an executive order to increase the state's target for "offshore wind-generated electricity."
The order, which was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy Tuesday, ups the target from 3,500 megawatts (MW) by 2030 to 7,500 MW by the year 2035.

A pair of developers has wrangled a $55 million loan to fund construction of an apartment complex in northern New Jersey, Commercial Observer can first report. The debt, from Providence, Rhode Island-based Citizens Bank, will fuel construction of Vinty, a planned 267-unit development set to go up adjacent to Elizabeth, New Jersey's commuter train station. The project, situated on a two-and-a-half acre site about 10 miles southeast of Manhattan's Financial District, will include a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments split among four separate buildings.

The National Transportation Safety Board has all but concluded its investigation into the March 2018 Florida International University pedestrian bridge collapse, which killed six people and injured several others. Its findings, foreshadowed by an earlier report from OSHA's Office of Engineering Services, laid the majority of blame on the span's design but also revealed major gaps in the project's construction and safety protocols.

It would not be an exaggeration to observe that construction is one of a handful of horizontal sectors that impacts all aspects of humanity in some form or fashion. The global significance of the infrastructure sector and its impact on people’s quality of life is undisputed and historically dates back to Roman times, who are credited with inventing concrete.

Used for years by a number of major U.S. manufacturers including Toyota, Boeing and GM, exoskeletons are a type of wearable technology that helps lessen worker strain from repetitive tasks. By providing support and reducing stress on the user's body, these machines — both powered and passive — enhance the ability to work quickly and safely and help reduce injuries. For more about exoskeletons and their applications for the construction industry, check out Construction Dive's Tech 101 feature on the subject.
