Business travel growing despite economic setbacks

Despite a slew of setbacks, including rising oil prices, natural disasters, slowing economic growth and shaky consumer confidence, spending on business travel continues to grow, suggesting that the U.S. economic recovery will continue and resist a double-dip recession, according to the Global Business Travel Association. The report found that U.S. spending on business travel reached $62.2 billion in the second quarter of 2011, up 6.3 percent from the second quarter of 2010. Based on that performance, GBTA forecasts that business travel spending for the year will grow 6.9 percent. More
