Taxes to be imposed on B&Bs in Washington County, Texas

The Washington County Commissioners Court has voted to impose a hotel tax on bed-and-breakfast establishments in Washington County, Texas. The money will be used to promote tourism, the arts and historical preservation. The city of Brenham has a seven percent hotel and motel tax already in place. The state legislature gave Washington County the authority to impose the tax during its last session, and will be for businesses outside the city limits. Most of them are bed and breakfast operations.
