USAF taps Northrop for GPS/INS systems

The U.S. Air Force has tapped Northrop Grumman to provide and sustain global positioning/inertial navigation systems for U.S. military and allied aircraft. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity award for fiber-optic gyro-based navigation systems has a potential value of as much as $200 million and features provisioning of platform integration, modernization, flight test and technical support, training, depot repair and spares for its EGI.

Rockwell Collins Avionics chosen for Korean Navy P-3Cs

L-3 Mission Integration has selected Rockwell Collins' Flight2 avionics for the Republic of Korea Navy P-3C upgrade. L-3 is a subcontractor to Korean Air, which is performing the upgrade. The Flight2 avionics will be installed on eight ROKN P-3Cs as part of the first lot upgrade contract L-3 awarded.

New Mexico House approves tax break for aircraft maintenance

New Mexico would lift its tax on parts and labor for maintaining aircraft under a proposal that has passed the House. Republican Rep. James White of Albuquerque said recently that New Mexico needs to remove its gross receipts tax from aviation maintenance, such as replacing tires, to prevent aircraft owners from using repair shops in other states with tax exemptions.

Boeing to locate new 777X composite wing center in Everett, Wash.

Boeing officials have selected Everett, Wash., as the location for a new composite wing center for the Boeing 777X aircraft program. "Locating the new composite wing center in Everett is a win for all of our teammates and partners," says Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner.

Vector to open Singapore engine MRO shop this year
