Winglets go a long way to give airlines fuel savings

Boeing calls the odd-looking upturned wingtips on aircraft "blended winglets," Airbus calls them "sharklets" and Southwest Airlines, in ads, simply calls them "little DooHickeys." Whatever the name, these wingtip extensions have become prevalent in recent years and have saved airlines billions of dollars in fuel costs.

Airbus to raise A320 Family production to 46 a month by the 2nd quarter of 2016

Airbus has decided to increase production of its best-selling single-aisle aircraft family to 46 a month in the second quarter of 2016, up from the current rate 42. The new higher production rate will be achieved gradually, with an intermediate step at 44 aircraft per month in the first quarter of 2016.

Bombardier expands mobile maintenance service with Learjet

Bombardier has expanded its customer response service by adding a dedicated airplane, a Learjet 45, to support U.S. business aircraft operators needing repairs. The airplane will operate around the clock and be based at Chicago Executive Airport in Palwaukee, Ill., Bombardier said. The airport is near the Bombardier Parts Hub and Chicago-based Customer Response Team truck.

PCC's Aviation Technology graduates in March 7 completion ceremony
