The First State Chapter — PAMA is offering Two (2) $1000.00 scholarships to provide financial assistance to an aviation maintenance student who wishes to further his or her career in a College / University or Aviation Trade School. On June 20-21, 2018, SOFWERX will host a Capability Collaboration Event (CCE) where SOF aviation maintainers and industry technical experts will explore the use of technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current aircraft maintenance processes.

Leaders of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee have introduced the bipartisan FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (H.R. 4), a five-year bill to reauthorize the FAA.
H.R. 4 was introduced in the House by the entire bipartisan leadership of the Committee and its six subcommittees, including Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA), Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ), and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA).

Bombardier is boosting the range of its flagship Global 7000 jet by 300 nm, positioning the four-zone business jet to claim the long-range title at 7,700 nm. Bombardier (Chalet 18) announced the range increase April 15, as ABACE was prepping for kickoff, after completing several long-haul flights with the model to destinations that include Sydney, Dubai, and Hawaii.
The flight-test program has demonstrated the ability to reach the 7,700-nm mark at Mach 0.85, Bombardier said, adding it is now the baseline for the 7000.
Triumph Group, Inc. announced that its Grand Prairie, Texas-based Product Support business has extended a long-term agreement with Pratt & Whitney for engine Line Replaceable Unit repairs. Under the agreement, Triumph Product Support's Accessory Services business based out of Grand Prairie, Texas, will service LRUs for the V2500, PW2000 and PW4000 engine models through 2019.
Av8 PMA, a leader in the reverse engineering, certification and manufacturing of PMA aircraft parts, is pleased to announce it will expand their current operation by adding a 3,320 sq. ft. facility in Dallas, Texas, dedicated to the company's engineering activities. The new location is scheduled to be operational in April 2018.
The facility will act exclusively as an engineering facility, handling engineering and certification work for PMA.
With global demand for technicians forecast to become critical over the next five years, North American maintenance companies are looking at different ways to attract new talent into the industry.
Speaking at the Heavy Maintenance Market Analysis & Trends panel at MRO Americas, Stephen Lim, president VT San Antonio Aerospace, an MRO under the umbrella of ST Aerospace's U.S. headquarters VT Systems, says the parent company's work-study program used in Singapore for many years is now being mirrored in the U.S.
