Responsible for inspecting in-process and completed product to ensure the as-built configuration matches the as-designed configuration. Must document all non-conformities for corrective action and take the initiative to identify design and process improvement changes that could result in quality improvements. Qualifications: Two-year college degree or comparable work experience. At least 5 years experience in manufacturing inspection. Must be able to read, interpret and inspect to drawings, procedures and process specifications that govern the fabrication process.
 


GM Willow Run plant redevelopment: Aircraft maintenance firm buys 1 building

The International Turbine Industries, an aircraft maintenance firm, has purchased the former General Motors Willow Run Company Vehicle Operations facility, RACER Trust announced recently. ITI will use the property to expand its jet engine repair and parts sales business. The purchase will create 25 new jobs over the next five years and the company plans to invest $50,000 in repairs and improvements to the building. The company currently has 10 employees.

Most aircraft maintenance tasks are the domain of licensed A&P mechanics. However, with the proper training and tools, changing a tire is something any aircraft owner or operator can do. 14 CFR Part 43.13 includes a provision specifically permitting aircraft owners and operators to remove, install and repair landing gear tires under the category of "Preventive Maintenance."

Aviation maintenance industry conference comes to Atlanta

The series of panel sessions and exhibits sponsored by Aviation Week magazine were highlighted by awards presentations, a market forecast and a keynote address by Delta Air Lines CEO Richard Anderson.
