Six general aviation advocacy associations have issued a joint statement strongly opposing the Trump Administration for including in its government reorganization a failed proposal to privatize the FAA’s air traffic control services.
"There is a large and diverse chorus of opposition to the idea of privatizing our air traffic control system, including congressional leaders from both political parties, more than 100 aviation organizations, over 100 business leaders, 100 U.S. mayors, consumer and agricultural groups, conservative think tanks, and the majority of Americans. Additionally, this concept has been fully considered in the U.S. Congress and rejected despite years of repeated attempts," said several aviation associations.
Industry fuel supplier Avfuel has boosted its sustainable fuels offerings with the signing of an agreement with biofuel provider Gevo. Under the deal, which takes effect July 1, Avfuel will become Gevo's exclusive sustainable jet fuel dealer for business aviation, at the locations it serves.
According to Avfuel owner, president, and CEO Craig Sincock, the agreement will help his company meet customer demand for a low-carbon, sustainable alternative jet fuel, thus filling a gap in the industry's supply chain.
Too many IFR pilots don't know their GPS as intimately as they should. Hitting "Direct To" and their destination is as much as many can muster out of their navigator. There is a serious lack of knowledge of what the GPS is trying to tell them.
The most basic information a GPS provides to a pilot is their current location and the direction to a desired waypoint (that sacred magenta line). But it does this using terms that not all pilots fully understand.
To the extent practical, in northern hemisphere markets summer is for flying, and fall is for maintenance. But locking in those fall slots now may be a wise move.
It increasingly looks like maintenance prices are headed for increases in fall, mostly due to the supply-demand balance, when jets finish their heavy summer flying duties.
Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group, Inc., was honored at the Enterprise Florida board meeting with the Job Creator Award presented by Board Chair Stan Connally on behalf of Governor Rick Scott's office.
Delta Private Jets is expanding its MRO capabilities by opening a new location at Sheltair Aviation on the grounds of the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The new MRO facility in South Florida joins the company's flagship MRO at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, which provides a full list of services including aircraft inspections, avionics repair and installation, mechanical and structural repair services, engine change and advanced troubleshooting.
The global aviation market might have experienced its most profitable period ever. But with mega airline mergers and acquisitions and the proliferation of low-cost carriers on both short and long-haul flights, airlines are now focusing more than ever on their bottom line — and that means their core business processes.
Gulfstream Aerospace recently bolstered its training program by adding two new aircraft structures—the fuselage, main entry door and wing of a Gulfstream G600, and the fuselage, door, interior and wing of a G650.
Various accounts in the mainstream and aviation media are announcing the end of the line for the world's fastest business jet but Textron, the manufacturer of the Citation X+, hasn't publicly confirmed it to our knowledge. Aviation Week longtime contributor Fred George has written a series of stories lamenting the demise of the aircraft, which sports a Mach .92 maximum cruise speed thanks to advanced (for 1993) aerodynamics and a pair of beefy Rolls-Royce turbofans.
