AAR building aircraft maintenance and repair facility in Louisiana

Aircraft maintenance company AAR is opening a repair and maintenance operation in Louisiana where it has a logistics center for the U.S. Air Force's KC-10 program. The maintenance, repair and overhaul facility for commercial aircraft will be located at Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles.

NTSB highlights inadequate tire maintenance

Recently, the NTSB held a public meeting to issue the probable cause of a Learjet 60 runway overrun accident Sept. 19, 2008. Both pilots and two of four passengers were killed when the Learjet, operated by Global Exec Aviation, overran Runway 11 during a rejected takeoff at Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina.

FAA Approves AD Free Overhauls

Innovative airmen modify mobile A/C unit
U.S. Air Force
Performing in extreme temperatures is the norm for many deployed service members, and adjustments in operations tempos are necessary to complete the mission on time to accommodate heat stress conditions. Two innovative Airmen assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron here fabricated a cooling sock attachment for the mobile air conditioning and heating units, which keep KC-135 Stratotanker flight decks cool while they are parked on the flightline.
