Delta places billions in orders from GE Aviation, joint venture

Delta Air Lines announced recently that it has placed more than $2 billion in orders for engines and maintenance from GE Aviation and its joint venture, CFM International. The deals include GE's CF6-80E1 engines to power Delta's 10 recently ordered Airbus A330-300 aircraft, as well as a long-term agreement to service the engines. The deal is valued at up to $1.4 billion over the life of the agreement.

Couple sues aircraft maintenance company after tail section falls off at 15,000 feet

Joseph Skilken, his wife Karen, their two daughters, ages 9 and 12, along with his parents-in-law departed from Port Columbus International Airport May 31 at about 9:50 a.m. for Colorado Springs, Colo., in their Cessna 441 airplane, N383SS. The family was to celebrate Karen's 50th birthday however, what was to be a celebration tuned into a nightmare for the family.

FAA Approves AD Free Overhauls

C&D Associates announces FAA approval for relief from combustion heater Airworthiness Directives AD2004-21-05 (imposed on Janitrol B series) and AD81-09-09 (for South Wind/Stewart Warner.) FAA approves aircraft maintenance facility in Lake Charles, La.

AAR Corp. has received Federal Aviation Administration approval to begin operating a previously announced aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Lake Charles, La. Chicago-based AAR initially will employ 250 people at the facility, located at Chennault International Airport.
