Augusta, Kansas-based GlobalParts.aero announced a partnership involving its aero structures facility in Oklahoma to provide aircraft service work at Wiley Post Airport.
The company said in an emailed press release that it has partnered with Turbine Aircraft Services at the same airport in Bethany, to provide inlet repair and replacement on multiple models of aircraft.
A privately funded, Boston-based aerospace startup is considering Washington state as a location to manufacture a sleek supersonic commercial jet now in the early stages of development. Spike Aerospace is designing an 18-passenger jet that would cruise at Mach 1.6 (1,100 miles per hour) and could fly with a low sonic boom from New York to Los Angeles in three hours.
The FAA has issued a Safety Alert reminding instructors, students, and other general-aviation pilots that the advised procedure for practicing slow-flight maneuvers has changed. The FAA's new advice intends to correct "inconsistencies" in the previous standard for maneuvering during slow flight, as outlined in the Airplane Flying Handbook published in 2004, and the latest Private Pilot Airplane Test Standards, which took effect on June 15.

An aircraft company is closing its maintenance operations at Delaware's New Castle Airport — a move expected to result in as many as 50 layoffs.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that Textron Aviation, formerly Hawker Beechcraft, is the second major tenant to leave the state's largest civil airfield recently, after Frontier Airlines stopped offering commercial flights in June 2015.
Aviation Technical Services (ATS) announced today that it has acquired Texas Pneumatics Systems (TPS) Inc., a company that provides repair and overhaul services for commercial airlines predominantly for pneumatic and fuel related components and systems. Located near Fort Worth, Texas, TPS is a world recognized, high-quality repair station with a 20 year proven record that employs an experienced team of about 100. The purchase expands ATS' breadth of capabilities in order to service new types of components that further support customer needs.

Investigators who probed the ditching of USAir 1549 into the Hudson River in 2009 say the recently released movie about the event portrays them in an inaccurate and unfair light. The movie, Sully, directed by Clint Eastwood, was released over the weekend in U.S. theaters.
