It seems likely legislators will miss a Sept. 30 deadline to pass an FAA reauthorization bill but they may not require yet another short-term extension. The Senate sent its suggested revisions of the House version of the bill back to the House for consideration recently. But the House is adjourned all next week and won’t reconvene until Sept. 25.
ExecuJet Middle East has increased its capabilities at its Dubai facility, adding full "M8" inspection services for the Embraer Lineage 1000 to its UAE GCAA and EASA Part 145 maintenance approvals. The maintainer, completing its first M8 inspection, also performed an ADS-B upgrade, other inspections, and structural service bulletin work on the bizliner.
Lufthansa Technik is preparing to add the LEAP-1A and -1B to its engine service portfolio.
"We will be one of the first non-OEM sources for LEAP MRO support, providing a competitive alternative to the OEM," says Marc Schwabe, Head Of Business Development and Finance, Product Division Engine, at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg.
A few mega trends are reshaping the engine MRO market, but two stand out as dominate factors because their force will have lasting effects, says a Lufthansa Technik executive speaking at Aviation Week Network's Aero-Engines Europe.
The University of North Dakota in collaboration with the Helicopter Association International and the Helicopter Foundation International recently completed a study which forecasts the supply of helicopter pilots and mechanics over the next eighteen years.

McFarlane Aviation Products has received FAA-PMA approval for fuel system components for Cessna aircraft.
According to company officials, McFarlane developed a new Teflon/Viton gasket kit for Cessna fuel caps that stops leaking and makes them easy to open.
The new McFarlane low friction fuel cap gasket kits feature a triple gasket slip ring arrangement combined with the FAA approved instructions for adjusting the tension spring built into the cap.
Modern Aviation, which launched in February with the purchase of Air Wilmington, has made a major splash with the announcement that it has acquired XJet, the highly rated FBO at Denver Centennial Airport (APA).
"XJet is known for its high-quality facilities, outstanding customer service, and commitment to safety, which is a perfect fit for the Modern Aviation platform," said Modern CEO Mark Carmen, who added that the company plans to invest infrastructure at the facility.

Famed aerobatic and Red Bull Air Race Pilot Michael Goulian is the launch customer for Hartzell Propeller's Talon, the next generation enhanced aerodynamic prop manufactured with Hartzell's patented ASC-II resin transfer carbon fiber process.
The specially designed performance propeller made its first public appearance when Goulian performed with the three-blade prop installed on his Extra 330SC aircraft at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services (AMES) has received supplemental type certification from the FAA to carry out automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) out modifications on Boeing 757, 767-200, and 767-300 aircraft.
The U.S. MRO provider says the move was to meet market demand in the run-up to the FAA's ADS-B equipage deadline scheduled for Jan. 1, 2020.
