Shenyang Avias Aviation Maintenance Engineering has been named the first Hartzell Propeller service and support center in the Peoples Republic of China. Shenyang Avias is located near Taoxian Airport in Shenyang, the provincial capital and largest city of Liaoning Province in Northeast China.
"This latest initiative demonstrates that Hartzell Propeller is committed to Chinese owners, operators and mechanics," said Weiqing 'Max' Wang, Hartzell Propeller managing director for China, based in Shanghai City.
Bombardier Business Aircraft hosted 136 business aircraft owners and operators as well as 75 suppliers and collaborators in Barcelona, Spain on September 15-17, 2015, at its Maintenance and Operations Conference. Bombardier's European and regional operators came together to learn best practices, discuss emerging regulations and technical enhancements — all with the goal of maximizing their operations.
Featured prominently at this year's event is Bombardier's growing service and support network in the region, including Bombardier's CRT Line Maintenance Station in Nice. The CRT Line Station provides AOG/line maintenance support to business aircraft customers in southern France and northern Italy.

Airbus Helicopters Inc. has delivered the Lee County Sheriff's Office, in Fort Myers, Florida. its AS350 BA AStar helicopter after completion of the aircraft's second 12-year Inspection. The 12-year Inspection effectively resets the helicopter's inspection cycles to zero, updates the aircraft with all applicable factory configuration changes and confirms its compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Administration requirements.

Van Nuys, California-based business jet maintenance provider SoCal Jets has added two new dealership agreements, with Universal Avionics and TrueNorth Avionics. Under the Universal Avionics agreement, SoCal Jets is a value-added reseller for the entire Universal product family, and the company also can participate in the avionics manufacturer's incentive programs and promotions. For TrueNorth, SoCal Jets is a reseller for the Canadian company's Simphone OpenCabin airborne telecom products.
The TrueNorth and Universal Avionics agreements should be helpful as SoCal Jets adds ADS-B and FANS solutions for its customers that need to comply with upcoming NextGen mandates.
General Aviation News
The Cessna 182 departed from a private airport that did not have fuel available for purchase. The pilot elected to refuel while en route to his destination instead of other airports located near the departure airport.
The pilot further reported that upon reaching the airport that he intended to refuel at, he found it was closed and diverted to another airport. At that time, he noticed that the fuel gauge needles were "bouncing off empty."
According to author Andrew Moseman: Halfway down the Hudson, Groucho lets me take the stick. New Jersey on the right, Manhattan on the left, and the river unfolds as a blue road before us. I know the fundamentals of how to steer this thing. But I'm not a pilot, and so I guide it to the left with the slightest of gestures. Good thing, too: It doesn't take more than a slight tap to push the Icon A5, far from the jerk of the joystick you might expect if you, like I, have never really flown an aircraft before.
The restoration team working on the B-29 Superfortress "Doc" will go on live webcam for the first engine startups. The event is to be held in Wichita, Kansas, where Doc is undergoing work at its hangar. Tom Bertels, a Doc's Friends board member, told AVweb in a recent email the team wants to get all four engines running. "The goal is to power up each engine to idle speed in order to verify that everything is in order and operating within expected operating envelopes," he said.

Charles Johnson is no stranger to new aircraft.
The former head of Cessna Aircraft Co. and one-time chief of flight test production at Learjet was involved with the certification of more than 25 new models of aircraft.
But it's a project he is now involved with that he says could truly revolutionize general aviation.
Johnson is a board member at Denver-based XTI Aircraft Co., founded by industry veteran David Brody, which has turned recently to equity crowdfunding to help get its TriFan 600 aircraft off the ground.
Straight up off the ground.
Unless you are required by a lender to carry liability insurance for your airplane, you likely don't have to pay for such a policy. Only 11 states require some form of liability insurance for general aviation aircraft operators, according to the Government Accountability Office, unlike automobile owners and commercial airlines, which are federally obligated to be insured.
But this may not be the case much longer. The GAO says there have been GA accidents where parties received no compensation for losses because the airplane operator had no insurance.
