Boeing readies patch for fire-damaged 787

Boeing will repair the 787 Dreamliner jet damaged in a fire at Heathrow Airport in London by making a duplicate fuselage section and cutting out a piece of it to create a giant patch, in a process one expert says is "pushing the limits of what's been done in the past."

BAE signs civil aircraft maintenance deal with Japan Airlines
Reuters
British defense contractor BAE Systems has signed a three-year deal with Japan Airlines to provide maintenance support for the carrier's commercial aircraft fleet, the company said recently. The deal, whose value was not disclosed, will see BAE's United States-based commercial aircraft solutions business provide repairs, spares and modifications to the aircraft electronic systems of Japan Airlines's Boeing 737-800, 767 and 777 planes.

Military aircraft maintenance and engineering support sought by US Navy

The U.S. Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., has issued a pre-solicitation notice (N00019-11-G-0001-RIT-14) for maintenance and engineering support for T-45 aircraft for retrofit integration. It was posted on Oct. 24 with a response date of Nov. 8. The approved source is Boeing Co., St. Louis.
