As your 2012 disc golf tour comes to life, the Kansas City Flying Disc Club, in association with Disc Golf World and Dynamic Discs, invites you to join us for our celebration of the 30th Annual Kansas City Wide Open disc golf tournament. That's right, it's been 30 years of fun and Frisbee in the City of Fountains! The first weekend in June is our spot and we have been working diligently to put together an amazing program of activities for all of our disc golfing guests. Jenny Cook writes, "It all started with a snowman. Not the kind made from snow, but the kind that can creep up on a scorecard as an 8. Hole No. 2 punished me with a 7. Hole No. 3 - another snowman. From hole No. 4 on, I probably didn't see a score on a hole better than a 6. It was frustrating how every shot I threw only went 150 feet and raced straight to the ground. Hard." More

The PDGA is requesting candidates for the annual Bob West Memorial Award for Sportsmanship, where a sportsman or sportswoman is defined as someone who exemplifies sportsmanship both on and off the disc golf course, observes the rules of play, and wins or loses with grace. More

Tyler Horne wins disc golf's 2nd Annual Derby City Classic

The 2nd Annual Derby City Classic was held in Louisville, Ky., on Sunday, May 6, at the Iroquis Park Disc Golf Course. With 87 disc golfers coming out to compete in this PDGA sanctioned B-tier event it was Tyler Horne of Columbus, Ohio who captured the win in overtime after both he and Jason Thomson of Bowling Green, Ky. finished with a final score of 18-under par. Innovation grants

The PDGA Innovation Grant Program was created in 2008 to increase and promote the awareness of the sport of disc golf and the Professional Disc Golf Association. Applicants are encouraged to think outside of the box to develop innovative and unique programs which will promote the sport and increase participation. The deadline for submission of applications for the second round of 2012 Innovation Grants is June 1. More

Ricky Wysocki crowned champion at disc golf's 2012 Indian Hammocks Open

The 2012 Indian Hammocks Open was held over the weekend of May 5-6 in Miami. This PDGA sanctioned B-tier event was hosted by the Miami Wind Dummies Disc Golf Club and was part of the Fabulous Florida Tour disc golf series. With 86 disc golfers coming out to compete, it was 2011 PDGA Rookie of the Year Ricky Wysocki of Fort Mill, S.C., who dominated the men's open division with a final score of 31-over par, nine strokes ahead of the second-place finisher, 12-time World Champion Ken Climo. More
