Congratulations to Bill Burbage of Orlando, Fla., and Daniel Schmidt of Wooster, Ohio for winning a nine hole course from DGA. Each year DGA sells fundraiser discs for the Am Worlds with each disc being a chance to win one of two nine hole courses. Karma can be a wonderful thing, just ask Bill and Daniel. Due to their generosity in supporting the Am Worlds by purchasing one of these fundraiser discs, each now owns his very own nine
hole course.

Our investigation of disc golf in 2010 begins -- and ends -- at the Cliff Stevens Park -- just off Drew Street in Clearwater, Fla. This place has some scenic vistas -- not surprising, since it sits in the midst of the Moccasin Lake Nature Park. But as we chronicle this marriage of Frisbee and fairway, we find folks flinging the flat fliers from paved tee
boxes to 18 metal/chained disc catchers... and those formerly focused on traditional find they just can't get enough of it.

The disc golf craze has officially landed on Liberty Mountain. This August, students and Central Virginia residents can tee off on a new 18-hole course that winds around the edge of campus. Liberty’s trail manager, Lars Larson, enlisted the help of local disc golf enthusiasts Steve Bowman and Kenny Palmer when designing Liberty's course. Both had previously designed a disc golf course in the nearby Bedford, Va., area.

Kure beach, N.C., will soon be home to the area's second public disc golf course, but it should appeal to everyone in the community. According to Mayor Dean Lambeth, the 14-hole course will also serve as a place to dispose of yard waste in an environmentally friendly way. "This will be a place that we can use a chipper to chip up all of the limbs to spread it out over the fairways, enriching the soil making it easier for people to
play because they won't be bogged down in any loose pockets of sand," said Lambeth.

An area disc golf club has spearheaded a project to add a nine-hole course in Woodmansee Park located in Salem, Ore. Disc golf is a game that follows the same concept as golf but uses flying discs of varying sizes instead of balls and clubs. Despite the steady rain on a recent afternoon, Capital City Disc Golf club volunteers installed roof shingles on a course information kiosk, which will include a course map, scorecards, park
rules, a sign indicating proper course etiquette, and a lock box for the return of errant discs.
